UK Court Upholds Palestine Action Terror Group Ban, Rejects Challenge Against Government Decision
The UK Court of Appeal has upheld the ban on Palestine Action as a terrorist organisation, rejecting challenges from activists

Britain’s Court of Appeal Rules Palestine Action Proscription Is Lawful
London, June 15, 2026: The UK Court of Appeal has upheld the British government’s decision to classify the activist group Palestine Action as a banned terrorist organisation, ruling that the proscription was lawful and proportionate.
The judgment marks a major legal victory for the UK government after it challenged an earlier High Court ruling that had found the ban under the Terrorism Act 2000 to be unlawful and excessive.
The latest ruling means that membership of or public support for Palestine Action will continue to remain a criminal offence under British law, carrying potential penalties of up to 14 years in prison.
Court Says Palestine Action’s Conduct Went Beyond Non-Violent Protest
Delivering the decision, Chief Justice Sue Carr stated that the Court of Appeal had concluded the government’s decision struck an appropriate balance between national security concerns and the rights to freedom of expression and protest.
The court rejected the argument that Palestine Action was simply a peaceful direct-action campaign group. According to the judgment, the organisation’s activities included unlawful violence, injuries, and significant damage to property.
The judges noted that the group had not suggested that the incidents considered as terrorist activities were isolated mistakes or exceptions, and they took into account potential future risks to individuals, businesses, and property.
Palestine Action Vows to Continue Legal Fight
Following the ruling, Palestine Action co-founder Huda Ammori said the organisation would continue challenging the ban through higher courts, including the UK Supreme Court and the European Court of Human Rights.
Ammori described the decision as a serious attack on freedom of speech and the right to protest in modern Britain.
